Another great year of tree planting - this year at the Kentucky Horse Park. Great venue! Great weather! Great Cause! |
Lexington Tree Board 2014-15
Woodland Park Tree Trail A huge part of what we as Landscape Architects and Arborists try to do is bring public awareness to "urban trees" and the "urban forest". In 2014-2015 PLA donated dozens of hours to help promote diverse urban trees in Lexington - specifically at historic Woodland Park. 100 different tree identification signs were designed by PLA via the Lexington Tree Board. Presently, PLA and other LTB members are working to install these signs throughout the park. |
2013 Reforest the BluegrassRTB was once again a success. Nearly 9000 trees were planted within 4 hours. PLA was fortunate to be able to support a great event which helps protect our watershed and water quality within Fayette County and its neighboring communities. Support urban forestry by enrolling at http://rtb2013.eventbrite.com/ and showing up at Hisle Park.

STIHL Tour des Trees 2012Once again PLA was able to help a friend with his challenge to cycle across the state of Oregon and raise $3500.00 for tree research & education via the Tree Fund (http://www.treefund.org/home). Please help us support John and the Tree Fund by sponsoring him at http://www.active.com/donate/STIHLTourdesTrees12/1236JSaylor

2012 Assurance For LifeIN 2012 Perkins Landscape Architecture was able to sponsor 2 tables at the Assurance For Life annual fundraiser held at the Hyatt Regency, Downtown Lexington. This was another great opportunity for local business-owners and private individuals to help support expectant mothers and fathers in the bluegrass.

2011 Reforest the BluegrassIN 2011 Jonathan was invited to participate in Reforest the Bluegrass at Liberty Park as an arborist team leader. The team consisted of an arborist and up to 20 event volunteers. What a wonderful opportunity to serve the community and help restore the Bluegrass and its waterways.
Please make a point to attend next year's event. Contact John Saylor, Arborist Technician with LFUCG at jsaylor@lexingtonky.gov for more information. http://www.lexingtonky.gov/index.aspx?page=2864 |
